Who Is Sam Forsyth?
I feel privileged to live in one of the best places in the United States – Boulder County. I love the appraisal business and have been appraising property in Boulder County for 41 years. For the past 23 years of my career, I have learned so much and have so greatly enjoyed serving the public in the Assessor’s office. I have raised three children in Boulder County and am a proud and dedicated father. I have a wicked sense of humor and am an avid follower of all things political. I am passionate about the need and opportunity to connect with the public as the next Boulder County Assessor. I know the Assessor position is not the first thing on your mind. I hope to convince you through my campaign that the office and the public will benefit from my experience and leadership.
I am passionate about and have dedicated my working life to the discipline of real estate appraisal. How can appraisal be a passion? I am continually intrigued by the evolving dynamics in the economic markets. I have remained curious about and kept current on all aspects of the appraisal and assessment industries. I hold a Certified General Appraisal License with the State of Colorado. I have worked diligently to make the process of valuation understandable in many venues – answering appeals at the local level, testifying at state appeals hearings, teaching seminars on valuation; and, always, listening and learning from the public.
I have lived in Boulder County since 1977 and am proud of my Boulder heritage. I graduated from the University of Colorado School of Business with a degree in Marketing in 1975. I worked as an independent residential fee appraiser in Boulder County for 18 years and have dedicated my last 23 years to serving the public in the Boulder County Assessor’s office. Two of my three children graduated from the University of Colorado with degrees in Education and are dedicated to teaching in the public schools. My third child is a freshman at CU. My grandfather, Samuel M. Forsyth, came to Boulder in 1914, owned and operated the Forsyth Dairy, and raised nine children in Boulder. My father, George Forsyth was born in Boulder in 1919. After serving 30 years in the United States Air Force, my father retired in Boulder in 1971. George served as the Boulder County Treasurer for two terms from 1986 to 1994.
It will be my distinct honor if you would support my dedication to the citizens of Boulder County and the County Assessor’s office by voting for me for Boulder County Assessor.
